Recall how Eric at Show Me Progress and then I below documented that Maria Chappelle-Nadal lied about the Saint Louis American editorial endorsing her. It’s pretty impressive in it’s audaciousness.
Her fine lawyer threatening people with a defamation lawsuit now has sent the ‘evidence’ for Joe Adams receiving support from Rex Sinquefield.
It’s pretty good:
AFT Missouri (AFL-CIO) Releases Statement on Joe Adams Ties
To 80th Legislative District Committee
ST. LOUIS (August 2, 2010) – American Federation of Teachers (AFT Missouri, AFL-CIO) recently learned that Joe Adams, Democrat for State Senate in the 14th District has denied any funding from billionaire financier Rex Sinquefield, but campaign finance records for the 80th Legislative District Committee show otherwise.
In a statement from AFT President Scott Ciafullo he states: “In 2006, one of our locals endorsed Joe Adams for Mayor University City,” says Ciafullo. “In an ad placed in the Suburban Journal promoting our endorsement of the then-mayoral candidate Joe Adams, it stated the ad was paid for the 80th Legislative District Committee, which is tied to Ted Hoskins, a staunch school voucher advocate and a current state senate candidate in District 14. This committee, at the time, was primarily funded by All Children Matter, a campaign committee that was funded by Rex Sinquefield and other prominent school choice advocates.”
AFT Missouri, AFL-CIO is a strong opponent of school vouchers.
The mission of the American Federation of Teachers Missouri, AFL-CIO, is to improve the lives of our members and their families, to give voice to our legitimate professional, economic and social aspirations, to strengthen the institutions in which we work, to improve the quality of the services we provide, to bring together all members to assist and support one another and to promote democracy, human rights and freedom in our union, in our nation and throughout the world.
What you have to know is that AFT is now lying to try and back up the original lie. They claim the 80th District Committee was primarily funded by All Children Matter PAC which is a school voucher PAC that is heavily funded by Sinquefield. It is true that All Children Matter sent $5,000 to the Committee before the ad (a $400 cost). Adams also received a $3,200 donation from the 80th Committee on April 1st. However the bulk of funding for the 80th for the first three reporting periods of the year is Pyramid Construction that donated $20,000.
Of course, Maria might want to give her good friend Jamiliah Nasheed a call as well since she received a donation from the 80th that year as well.
So let’s sum up:
1) Maria lied on her flyer regarding the American Endorsement text
2) Maria then claimed Joe Adams had gotten support from Sinquefield and said she would get AFT to release a statement.
3) Maria threatens to sue blogger for reporting that she lied about the American Endorsement and that there was no evidence of Joe Adams receiving any support from Sinquefield and appears to be lying about that.
4) AFT releases statement that lies about the primary funding source of the 80th Committee in 2006
5) No link between Joe Adams and Sinquefield has been demonstrated. Joe Adams did receive support from a PAC that also received some support from Sinquefield, but the primary donor was Pyramid Construction for that PAC during that time.
What’s stunning about all of this is the incompetence of Maria Chappelle Nadal, her lawyer, and the local American Federation of Teachers.
Adding to it, Joe Adams is now running against Ted Hoskins which makes this entire story spun by Maria even stranger. Oh, and one of her closest political allies received a donation from the 80th in the same time period.
It is clear from this fiasco that there is one person who should not be the next State Senator from the 14th and that is Maria Chappelle-Nadal. Make no mistake about it, Maria is lying about the American editorial and she’s lying about Joe Adams receiving support from Rex Sinquefield.
By Maria’s own logic then, if I am following this right, I can start a PAC, solicit a contribution from say the American Society of Kitten Murder, use that money to pay for a print ad supporting Maria, and then claim that she supports the murder of innocent baby cats?
On a side note, can I be held legally liable for posing a hypothetical question semi-anonymously on the comments of a blog which may or may not suggest that a certain State Senate candidate frequently feeds kittens into a wood chipper for entertainment?
You forgot to mention goat fucking
