Saint Louis Pushes Back catches Jim Hoft giving some love to the Council of Conservative Citizens:

Jim Hoft, also known as Gateway Pundit, has amazingly descended to a new, despicable low. After trumping up the school bus beatings in Belleville as “vicious racist attacks” (even though students, the mayor, and prosecutors said the attack was not racially motivated), he now links to a youtube channel from a white supremacist group with the video title, “2nd White kid attacked by blacks on school bus, racial slur used”:

Despite the claim in the title of the video, nothing is said in any of the news reports about the attackers’ skin color. In the KMOV interview, the victim emphasizes only that they were “too older kids in eighth grade.” He did mention that they called him a “white N”, but that name seems just as likely to come from white racists as anyone else. In fact, Hoft even admits in an update, “I do not have a reliable source for the race of the attackers.”
Yet that does not stop Hoft from playing the race-baiting card by linking to the youtube channel from the white supremicist group The Council of Conservative Citizens, who are the direct offshoot of the White Citizen’s Council. You can see on the bottom right of the following screen the link the council from the host channel:
For those who haven’t been around long, here’s my past run in with the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens. Warning harsh racist rhetoric.
The Teabaggers want to claim they don’t have a problem with racism, yet a featured speaker at many of their events is approvinglin linking to a group of white supremacists that are well known in the area.  I don’t doubt that Dana Loesch and Hennessey are not racists–but pretending some of their allies aren’t is delusional.

First, credit to the P-D staff for policing the main comment thread.  This in the video thread is just bizarre:

Young mr. raines appears to be of mixed race. The part of his racial makeup that isn’t black was the factor in his trying to ease the further abuse of this poor white kid who is a victim of racism by the black attackers.

Steve Raines appears to be part black and part something other than black. It was the part of him that wasn.t black that gave him courage to ease some of the some of the suffering and continuing abuse of the poor victim

Awesome way to make your web site a cesspool of white supremacists:

If Browne wishes to wallow in her liberal guilt, so be it. Few white Americans had any connection with this institution, although to listen to the Blacks you would think they are still in the bonds of slavery. The billions poured into social programs to remedy their plight have more than offset any inconvenience their farmer forefathers might have endured. Its time to look at slavery for what it was; the myths of mistreatment should be balanced with the benevolent treatment these Africans received at the hands of their benefactors. I understand that this is not a popular opinion, because for decades the truth of slavery has been obscured by Uncle Toms Cabin and the need to blame the white man for the problems of the race. Peruse the literature of the time, and you will see the vast majority of slaves were treated very well, as any sensible farmer would treat his agricultural assets. It has been 146 years since Lincoln emancipated the slaves in the South (conveniently, not in the North). Most whites immigrated after slavery ceased to exist. We have no guilt,we have no reason to share Brownes’ guilt. We do have contempt for those who still use slavery as a generic excuse for the failure of blacks to assimilate into the culture as EVERY other race/ethnic group has.

An excellent point has been made. These Africans were far better off on the plantations of the old South than they were as leopard bait in the jungle. This is obvious from the reletively few who “ran away” and preferred the comfort and security of their owners farm. Had the slave population been as mistreated as the lies would lead you to believe, why didn’t the South crumble immediately when the War of Northern Invasion began. Obviously the black workers were very content with their lot, otherwise they could have revolted against unfair treatment when the opportunity arose. The fact that they did not, and most stayed to continue with their labors, or even fought on the side of the Southern Confederacy, demonstrates that they considered themselves fortunate. It is time for these myths associated with slavery to be consigned to the dustbin of history.

It seems that Kurt is not allowing any opinions on this “opinion” site. If you have any urge to comment on the issue of slavery, unless you embrace the plight of the poor Negro slaves, you will be censored for having a contrary opinion. I thought it only fair to inform you that you are not allowed to have an opinion with which Kurt disagrees.

I thought that lady commenter made two very good points before the moderator censored her too. The Irish had a worse time of it-1847-the Briticsh intentionally starved the Irish and many tried to immigrate to the US, no one starved the blacks to death. And the coffin ships of the Irish were as bad as the slave ships. The other point she made was if the treatment of the slaves was so bad, the economy of th South would have collapsed when most male Southerners left to fight the invasion from the North. The fact that there was no slave revolt, and blacks even fought for the Confederacy to repel the invasion by the Yankees, points out that the majority of slaves were quite content and didn’t use the war as an excuse to flee the plantations en masse. Too bad her opinion was not popular with the censor.

The P-D online has reduce the number of overtly racist comments by patrolling comments more, but it’s not hard to find these:

ustracn15 August 15, 2009 2:26PM CST

Good luck educating the savages1 After all it be kool to be stoopid!
The best description of the problem comes from the Post-Dispatch in talking about teabaggers:
People who use rude interruption and desperate anger as their principal outlet for community activism can expect to lose public sympathy quickly. Indeed, they may find themselves out in the cold, having forfeited by their conduct any claim to participate in the conversation.
Unfortunately,  people crudely who make fun of death, who ridicule  students in stories about attempts to improve students’ performance, who use code words to refer to African-Americans and Latinos while claiming to not be talking about racism will always have a place to participate in the conversation–in the Post-Dispatch online.

Literally, some people showed up.

The Post-Dispatch has the best written story, but the number of attendees who were non-press appears to damn near nil.  Even bettr, from the KSDK story:

Gladney is not connected to Move-On-Up.org. Gladney’s attorney, David Brown, said Gladney does not have a problem with the way the NAACP has handled the situation.

Crack work there by Chris Arps and Move-on Up.  But it gets better (from the P-D):

ST LOUIS — A conservative African-American social networking group set out Monday morning to criticize the city’s NAACP chapter for not supporting a black man who said he was beaten outside a forum on aging earlier this month.

But the effort was cut short when the head of the civil rights group showed up at the news conference and said that no one had asked the NAACP to investigate the claims.

“The St. Louis branch of the NAACP will and does accept and investigate all written complaints filed with us, regardless of the complainant’s ideology,” said Claude Brown Sr., president of the St. Louis City NAACP. “We regret that a group has decided to protest outside our office before contacting us or filing such a complaint.”

The Saint Louis NAACP has long had a history of disorganization and organizational strife.  It also just outmanuevered Chris Arps of Move-On Up and Missouri Political News Service.  You almost have to try and be that incompetent.  Perhaps it’s just a natural talent for Arps.

Adding to it, Arps was there to criticize the NAACP for not acting to take a role in a potential felony situation, while Arps was found guilty of felony non-support of his children.

Interestingly, from what I’ve been told 97.1 never mentioned the protest/press conference before hand, nor did any of the sane Missouri political blogs.

Fail.  Defined.

Hennessy is off in fantasy land:

The protest is to demand justice for Kenneth Gladney, an African-American conservative who was brutally beaten by 4 individuals, at least 2 of whom were identified as SEIU representatives. The beatings included racial slurs and required hospitalization of Mr. Gladney.

As videos show, the attack was unprovoked and no one retaliated against the union thugs.

This attack followed hours of taunts and verbal assaults by SEIU and ACORN members upon citizens gathered to express their views under the First Amendment. We believe this brutal beating is part of an organized plan to suppress dissent to the Administration’s planned seizure of the medical industry in the United States.

Anyone who believes in non-violent protest, in the rule of law, in the right of black men and women to express conservative political views, in the right to peaceably assemble, to speak freely, and to petition Congress for a redress of grievances is invited to attend.

The Tea Party specifically requests the NAACP and the ACLU to come out in support of Kenneth Gladney’s rights which were trampled by these hooligans. We call on Representative Russ Carnahan to denounce the beating. We call on President Obama to denounce the beatings. We call on St. Louis County to prosecute the assailants to fullest extent of the law.

The video only starts at the end of the incident so it’s unclear what started it.  At best what you have is two guys attacking a third guy.

That’s bad and if true the two guys will be prosecuted which is the right answer.

Hours of taunts and verbal assualts by SEIU and ACORN?  Not so much.  As you can somewhat see, most of the pro-reform folks outside were in a circle chanting and singing while being taunted, insulted, and challenged in their personal space for the entire evening.  Volunteers trying to reenter the building were grabbed and pushed.   A reporter had some crazy woman following her around trying to block the reporter from taking pictures because the woman was mad the reporter had been inside at one point.

I’m trying to clean up some video of when a Central Reform Rabbi was trying to engage in dialogue and had his seven year old son with him, two clowns started yelling at him and calling him a “Socialist Bastard.”  When he pointed out his son was there, they said, what do you expect, that’s your fault for bringing him there.

The event was at a Middle School.

Hennessy and his clowns can try and play the victims here, but let’s be very clear, they aren’t there for discussion or dialogue–the y are there to be disruptive.  They are angry bitter people and that’s really quite sad, but it also doesn’t excuse them from basic standards of decency.

When you take video of people who you think are nuts, its best if you don’t display the same behavior:

About 15 seconds in you’ll see him with the green shirt and camera phone heckling the pro-reform group which is in a circle chanting.

Most of the night teabaggers were going up to the circle of pro-reform folks singing and doing chants and challenged personal space, yelling in people’s faces, pushing through small spaces, putting signs in people’s faces, etc.

The video of the woman in pink who is pretty clearly out of control was the only video they have of people acting up.  She was actually asked to leave by some of the pro-reform people because she was clearly disturbed. She ended up getting arrested which isn’t too surprising.
