The same thing happened last week in west county at the mcdonalds at manchester and weidman. ….. Oh wait no it didn’t. because “most” white people are taught by their parents who are still in the home to not act like freakin animals……unlike “most” black kids who dont have both sets of parents and are not taught how to deal with problems…….Keep thining the herd. One day lets hope only the smart law abiding black…and white kids survive. It’s not racist…it’s true.

They need to have another of those 1,000,or 10,000 man marches. Bring in those agitator / extortionists sharpton & jackson to get the crowd riled up. The first 3 or 4 marches didn’t take. Al & jesse can put all the blame on the whites. No personal responsibility, just lame assed excuses. Were tired of the ” victimhood ” line. Look in the mirror, thats where your shortcomings originate.

I think Taxpayer said it best: this is addition by subtraction. Honestly now, does anyone really care as long as they kill each other off? As long as they stay in their part of town, the law of the jungle should prevail.

OK,so I guess I’m one of those to blame since I live in St Charles.I was born and raised in north St Lou. In the 30s/40s/50s it was a great place to be,over a million folks in the city.We used to run and play in every neighborhood with impunity, hardly,if ever locked our house doors, mom and my sisters could come and go and never be molested.Well beginning in the early fifties things changed dramatically. It got very bad very quickly. We packed up and bailed out for St Johns and a return to the life style we once knew,it took about thirty years for the low life’s to follow and destroy that area also. When I began raising a family,I didn’t want to have them placed in harms way so I went to Hazelwood, once again a degree of normalcy, that too was destroyed by the low lifes, you know, the “Brothas”.Well where I am now,18 years,it’s great. Where I live,no muggings, rapes, murders, burglaries or any of that crap since I moved into this 450 family community. Hell, when I do have a need to go east,I wont even drive down I-70 for fear one of them in Walnut Park may hit me with a stray bullet.Nope,it’s not my fault,or anyone else who left. The city is a garbage bucket, and if it makes you feel good to stay, have at it.

I think they need to move all sports events to the county and just drop a a bomb on St. Louis city and wipe it out. No one in their right mind would live down town and want to be there after 5pm

First, credit to Greenbaum and his team. They are making an effort to clean up the comments–yesterday there were no clear examples of racism that I saw that stayed up and the same with a couple threads on today that were likely to explode.  But here’s the problem:

Luster should be thanking you for mentioning his HIV health problem. The Queens in whatever prison he’s sent to won’t be so quick to use and abuse him. Of course, there’s always the chance that might disappoint him, too…

I know there is a double standard about rape in prison and ‘regular’ rape in terms of jokes being acceptable, but there shouldn’t be.

I’m curious as to why the P.D. keeps taking down posts that allege the congressman’s illegal drug use and serial womanizing? These have been posted by numerous individuals and are issues widely known in political circles. You allow post after post accusing the guy in Columbia, IL. of murdering his wife with absolutely no substantiation whatsoever, but allegations against the congressman are taken down immediately, even when there is substantial evidence of the truthfullness of those posts. Why the double standard?

This goes to the larger point of how irresponsible much of the commenting is. There are ways to improve it, but letting people suggest conspiracies by Joyce Meyer or unsubstantiated claims about the father are just as offensive as the rumors about Lacy Clay.  None of this would be allowed in a letter to the editor–why is it allowed in comments?

Impressive:

I’m suprised he did file for divorce too. Isn’t it african-american tradition just for the males to pick up and leave whenever it suits them? Also, he only “works” 4 days a week? And he’s paid $180,000 a year for a 4 day work week? Plus, at least that amount annually in pension for the rest of his life? I think we need to take back our government.

The Republican Speaker of the House Ron Richerds (R-Joplin)

From a House news release:

“We are now one crucial step closer to restoring funding for Metro,” said Speaker of the House, Ron Richard. “With the possibility of many of the closed routes re-opening, we can look forward to rebuilding our state’s workforce and improving public safety.”

It continued:

Richard finished by saying, “We are hopeful that the Governor will take a stand on this issue and urge our friends in the Senate to follow our lead and pass House Bill 22 so that we can begin the road to economic recovery and improve the lives of hard-working Missouri citizens.” he added.

As Tony Messenger pointed out in his post, Nixon has been missing on the issue.  Metro has its problems and Richards was right to not automatically just throw money at them, but the current situation is more than about Metro–it’s about people being able to get to work and a functioning transit system in an incredibly and increasingly decentralized metropolitan area.

I often criticized Nixon for his game of playing the city against the rest of the state, but I had hoped that Nixon had grown out of that.  It’s clear he hasn’t.  Metro is essential to a healthy metro area and while it certainly needs to continue to improve its performance, it’s far better than it was 10 years ago.   The larger issue of capital costs and controlling them is different from daily operations which are fairly decent now.  Richard sees all of this, why can’t the Democratic Governor?

Fine moments in civic discussion:

Congressman Clays actions should not surprise anyone he is a black democrat. His concern is for himself and the power that his position provides.
The real surprise is that he married this woman at all. The second surprise is that he stayed “married” as long as he has.
I imagine he jus be laid up in the bed in sum bi–hs crib 4 da weekend.

Two quotes from comments today to illustrate the basic problem:

Rumors about drug use:

stlbang May 6, 2009 6:29AM CST
Cheap way to treat your family, maybe now Clay’s hidden drug use will finally come out and he will find that he’s not the big man he thinks he is

Conspiracy theories about Joyce Meyer and her organization:

yojoedoe May 6, 2009 5:37AM CST
At this point without smoking gun eyewitness(es) I worry that in the end Joyce Meyer megamoney could manipulatively buy freedom for the perpetrator(s) who would have a stacked deck of judicial rights while these 3 young people had their’s incomprehensively murdered away. THATS where public outrage should go focused next to prevent IF any suspects arrested are connected to Joyce Meyer ministries.

glock27 May 6, 2009 5:53AM CST
Joyce Meyers run a cult type so called reigious group were a big portion of your money goes to her and her family. The PD did a report several years ago on Joyce Meyers. They drive Mercedes and live in expensive homes all paid for by the cult. There could be any number of reasons for this terrible crime.

glock27 May 6, 2009 5:58AM CST
My first thoughts would be…that someone in this family knew something about Joyce Meyers cult and was killed to hush them up or to send a message.

These are not isolated incidents.

Busy Day, but here is one:

Keith May 4, 2009 6:34AM CST
What a enchanting story! It makes me fell all warm and fuzzy to see another family, complete with grandma, moving into public housing? Movin’ on up baby!

Of course, most of the day appears to have been spent on people introducing rumors about the mother and two children killed in Illinois and Lacy Clay.

Why does a newspaper allow people to speculate about murders?  It’s a really bizarre situation where people are spreading rumors about a man with no evidence in the Illinois case and yet there are multiple accusations and speculative claims about what must have happened.

What is the purpose of that even?  It’s certainly libelous and worse, hurtful.  It serves no purpose.

In the case of Clay, there are multiple claims about what Lacy has done, but other than his wife’s letter no support for it.  Why is the speculation about his fidelity legitimate?  The same sort of nonsense was taking place with rumors about Matt Blunt and the content of the e-mails and I believe the P-D did a fairly good job of stopping those as they should.

It may well be that Lacy Clay was cheating on his wife, but random anonymous comments in stories shouldn’t be where that is introduced.

Teh Gay shouldn’t hold office:

Did the Missouri voters know Justus was a queer when they elected her(or him)? Oh, I just noticed she is from KCMo. Those people just don’t know any better. She (or he) should be voted out at the next election.

Lacy’s hair is essentially shaved.

Kurt just mentioned some stories aren’t linked–essentially I just did a site upgrade and I’m having some minor issues with links.  Drop a note in comments and I’ll fix those going forward.

Let me add, I have no particular love of Lacy, but the rumor mongering in a thread with such personal news is pretty offensive and may even by libelous.
